Durham Scenic Workshops is a scenery construction workshop. 

We build and create scenery for Theatre, TV, Escape Rooms, Conferences and Events as well as being able to provide transport and storage solutions.

From our 7500 sqft of workshops in County Durham, our fabulous team of carpenters, metalworkers, scenic artists and sculptors work hard across all our workshops to bring the best quality scenery to you.

With both traditional set building and state of the art CNC, medium scale shows keep us busy all year round....

Latest News...

6th October 2018

... So it's been quite a while since we last updated the website - and it's been a busy year for the whole team - including a new arrival on the 1st June - welcome Katie Brown! (6lb6oz)

​

In the mean time we've been building for ETO, Live theatre Newcastle, Royal Academy of Music, BYO, Customs House to name but a few...

​

On Monday we send out another set to Live Theatre - Clear White Light, before we start working again with the fabulous Neil Irish on Derby Theatre's new Christmas show - Hansel and Gretel.

​

It's fit up day for Curious Monkey's latest production of Walker Talk.  Designed by Nina Scott and co-directed by Amy Golding and Toni McElhatton, the Company have been working with pupils and teachers from Walker Technology College to create a brand new piece of theatre.  

 

We hope they all enjoy the experience and the show goes brilliantly, break a leg!

We love days like today - model box presentation for GTSS' upcoming production of Rent at the Gala Theatre Durham.  Being designed by Simon Henderson we are excited to see and hear the initial design concept and can't wait to get started on the build soon!

Today the team are in London fitting up the set for The Braille Legacy at Charing Cross Theatre.  The Workshops made the central revolve and surrounding flats which were designed by Tim Shortall.

​

We wish the Company huge success for this brand new musical!

The Workshops team are in London today at Southwark Playhouse fitting up the set for their new show and UK premier of The Life.  

 

Designed by Justin Nardella the show is set in the darker side of 1980's New York, billed as "a gutsy and gritty joyride filled with both pathos and fun".  The show runs from 25 March to 9 April.

 

We wish the whole Company a successful run!

Today the Workshops have delivered a set to the Gala Theatre in Durham for their next in house production Educating Rita.  

 

Designed by Adrian Gee and Directed by Rebecca Frecknell this British Theatre Classic looks set to be a great production.
